A Message From Kim Campbell:

I am so excited to be running for Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Judge, Group 31, serving Pinellas and Pasco counties. This seat is presently occupied by Judge David Demers who will be retiring at the end of the 2012 term. I am looking forward to the opportunity to earn your support and your vote. The election is August 14, 2012.
Born in Tennessee, I moved to Florida in May 1998 to begin my law school career. Studying here locally at Stetson University College of Law I discovered my love of the law and have been driven ever since to improve, and earn the respect of, the legal community of which I am so proud to be a part.
"To those to whom much is given, much is expected." To some, these are just words. I take them a little more personally, though! I am committed to doing my part to improve my community and the legal profession. I feel that service to the public is not an action, it's a way of life. I am presently serving as President of the Clearwater Bar Association representing approximately 1,000 attorneys and paralegals in the greater Clearwater area. I have also served on the board of the Clearwater Bar Foundation, been a pro bono attorney for low income families through Gulfcoast Legal Services, and am a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness for Pinellas County. In the community, I am a member of Leadership Pinellas, a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts, and have been recognized by Stetson University College of Law with the Raphael Steinhardt Award for outstanding character, leadership and service to the community.
I feel passionately that being successful requires one to be fully engaged! My vast and practical experience will be a huge asset to the judiciary. After law school, I was an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit for three years. While there, I developed a strong background in criminal law and gained invaluable trial experience. I participated in the prosecution of numerous felony cases, as well as civil cases under the Jimmy Ryce Act. Subsequently, I started my private practice with Thomas J. Donnelly and continued honing my professional skills where I presently practice both criminal defense and family law. In later years, I chose to expand my practice to include representing the interests of children throughout Pinellas and Pasco Counties as a Guardian ad Litem. In private practice I have continued those efforts by representing at-risk children.
In addition, my experience extends to serving as a special magistrate for the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board and as an Adjunct Professor at St. Petersburg College in the Policy and Legal Studies Department, where I teach Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Family Law to our next generation of the legal community.
If you were to ask me to name the thing of which I am most proud, though, I would quickly tell you that it is being a mother to my son Parker and wife to Ryan, who is a Sergeant with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Ryan has lived in Pinellas County for the majority of his life and we are proud to be raising our son here in such a wonderful community. As a breast cancer survivor and mother, I am committed to do all that I can to help shape a bright future for my son, family, friends, and the community in which I serve.
I have both the personal and professional credentials to ensure justice and fairness for our citizens in the courtroom.
As a judge, I will be fair and caring, rule by the law, and be the kind of judge you need and deserve.
Please vote for me on August 14, 2012 and allow me to serve the citizens of Pinellas and Pasco Counties.
